After the rain

In between the clouds and rain this morning, the sun peeked out for mere seconds giving me this back lit vision of the hibiscus, the same hibiscus I have been taking pictures of all winter.

It has been one of the few constants this winter. It is not always blooming, but I know that when we have two or more warm days in a row, followed by rain, that there will be a bloom.

Winters are too frequently gray and brown, even in places like Florida that don't see snow, and during this time, on days when I have walked through mud or stepped on broken pine needles, I have clung to this flower for a little bit of color, a little bit of life to get me through until spring.
