This is the Day

Lord, I begin my day
with You, watching the sunrise,
watching as Your Light
pours into the world,

spills over the horizon
and fills every body
of water, every valley,
every green, leafy tree.

The whole world wakes, Lord
and takes a deep breath … of You.

You are the God
of the living.

You are the God
who lives.

You are the Holy One,
the Holy Gardener,

the One who sows,
the One who tends,
the One who reaps
a bountiful harvest,

and we, Lord, are Your harvest.
We are alive in You today.

This is the day
that You have made, Lord.

And we will rejoice.
We will praise Your name,
and live in every second
of this day and be glad in it.
