Sometimes, God works miracles
that fast—in a clap of thunder,
in the unfurling of angel’s
wings at sunrise,
but most miracles take longer,
years even with random
bits of the puzzle falling
into place here and there,
a necessary drought, for example,
to prepare the way for the storm.
