On top of a hill

My favorite pictures are those I get to take of birds sitting at the very tops of trees.  Most of the time, the birds I see are hidden behind branches and vines.  Unless they are cardinals or blue jays, they blend in so well to their surroundings, they disappear.

And yet sitting at the top of a tree is so dangerous.  They sit there to be seen and heard, but sitting there also leaves them exposed and threatened.

They take that chance anyway.

We are the light of the world, Jesus tells us and even though it may be safer to remain hidden, it is our purpose to let our light shine.
