Sunlight and shadows

It was sunny briefly this morning, right when I arrived at church.

And then a fog settled in awkwardly.

Isn't the sun supposed to burn away the fog?

Since when does the fog settle in over the sun?

I am thankful for sunlight in an unexpected way.  I am thankful for shadows.  Yes, shade is important in summer, but shadows are usually something we shy away from.  Shadows are things that lurk in corners, but outside, shadows play and dance and hide and create beautiful patterns in places we would otherwise overlook.
